Highlights from Atlassian Summit 2016

The heart of Silicon Valley – San Jose, welcomed over 3,200 attendees from 34 countries at Atlassian Summit 2016. These were 3 days full of innovations, learning, training and an epic party for the final day. Here's how currently Atlassian company looks like in figures, since their foundation in year 2002:

  • Atlassian has 60,000 customers worldwide
  • 20,000+ organizations using JIRA Service Desk
  • 100 million Confluence pages
  • 15,000 AUG Members in 37+ countries
  • 2000+ Ads-ons in the Atlassian Marketplace
  • 5 000 000 users are now using Bitbucket in the cloud

Now let's spot the product highlights, which they revealed during the Summit:

It’s the number 1 software development tool used by agile teams.  With JIRA Sofware – 7.2.3 release, Atlassian introduced Kanban backlogs, first in the  cloud and later in the server version.  This way you can improve the organization of your agile boards.

Just a quick sneak peek at JIRA mobile: Until now, the JIRA Software and Confluence mobile apps were only available for iPhone. At the Summit, Atlassian announced that JIRA Cloud clients can now use their Android  devices,  mobile app is available at Google Play store.

The users will be pleased with more dynamic content in the upcoming release of Confluence 6.0. Long waited features like drag and drop, concurrent editing, shared drafts, live links and  copy page hierarchies are now available.

GIT Large File support is now available in beta for Bitbucket Cloud, this will allow your team to efficiently store large file 3x faster. This will effect all the 5 million Bitbucket Cloud users.

A new feature – Bitbucket Pipelines – is now available for the cloud users.  It allows them  to see the status of the build before starting work, scale building capacity and  store configuration as code via  .yml files. Bitbucket Pipelines are replacing Bamboo Cloud.

JIRA Service Desk (JSD), used by over 20,000 teams worldwide, becomes more and more powerful with the ability to group users, queues, SLAs and reports by company. The Atlassian priority to work for the teams, make the service desk experience as effortless as possible for end-users. With new features like custom notification templates with localization, updates in local languages, more personal customer content and simple implementation of approval steps it is easier than ever to configure and manage your work. JSD is now officially ITIL certified when it comes to:

  • Service requests
  • Incident management
  • Problem management
  • Change management

Atlassian announced that there will be over 200 new integrations coming to HipChat – integrations for every kind of team. HipChat also now provides group video and screen sharing for up to 20 team members.

These are the major highlights regarding the Atlassian Summit 2016. Still something missing? Yep, we didn’t mention those epic and legendary parties that Atlassian organize to mark every summit’s end – Summit Bash! The biggest Atlassian party of the year with a lot of music, nonstop fun, bottomless drinks, delicious food, karaoke and DJ Kanban. The thing is that… Atlassians know how to party!
