Atlassian Summit Barcelona is just around the corner and we’ve been waiting for it because each year it gets better. Our Nemetschek Bulgaria’s Atlassian team enjoys every single moment of all the lectures, workshops, and talks with the attendees during the break times. But it is not only the Summit, it’s the whole amazing experience, being part of something big in Barcelona.
So no matter if it’s your first time at the Summit or in Barcelona, you’d definitely appreciate some guidance and hints on how to take the most out of it all. We are sure that you would not only dedicate your whole day to the Atlassian family but you’ll also want to explore the city.
Let’s give you some piece of advice from the position of someone who has already been there. We’ve attended 2 summits in Europe (and 4 in the US), and survived, made some Barcelona memories as well and this year we are back for more.
Тhe Summit is Atlassian’s biggest global event that happens every year. There you can see the latest product innovations, meet with partners, talk with the product developers, learn how to transform the way your teams work, have fun and be inspired.
Just like last year, the venue of the event will be Fira Barcelona Gran Via. There are a couple of hotels nearby but if you're staying in other parts of the city there are buses and trains that stop close by (look for Fira station). Unfortunately, there are no sightseeing spots nearby but you can walk around the business park that also has a shopping mall where you can find sport goods (Decathlon, Nike), hypermarkets (Carrefour) and clothing stores (Zara, H&M).
One of the biggest benefits of attending Atlassian Summit is the Expo Hall. There you can find Atlassian booths for all products, you can talk directly with Atlassian staff about any topic you want. Don’t miss to visit the Sponsor booths, where Atlassian Partners and Marketplace Vendors will show you how you can get the most out of the Atlassian Suite by using apps or consultancy from a local representative. Make sure to visit all booths, where you can get some cool swag, apps information, and discounts from vendors, etc. And definitely come by booth B20, where Nemetschek Bulgaria’s Atlassian Team will show you our latest developments and give you the opportunity to win something ;)!
There is a mobile application each year that you could use to track lectures, give feedback and keep yourself up to date about what’s going on during the Summit. The app is user-friendly and keeps up the vibe of the event. You can often see pictures of teams or promotions of games and raffles, so make sure you’re among those who take advantage of it!
Both the Atlassian Summit and Camp conferences are full of interesting lectures. There are usually a couple of them going on at the same time (except the keynotes) and you get to choose which tracks suit your needs and interests the best. You can find short description of the lectures and the lecturers in the schedule or in the mobile application. Keep in mind that sometimes the most interesting lectures are the ones that you thought would be boring and useless. Moreover the lecture that is in your field of expertise can be quite boring because the lecturer talks about the basics but you already have advanced knowledge about the topic. Trust your gut and don't be afraid to listen to something you've never heard of before.
The Bash party usually happens at the last day of the Summit (and one day before the Camp). It's a great networking event that brings together all people who have attended the conference. There's music, drinks, food, entertainment and a lot of opportunities to meet new people, catch up with friends from last year or get to talk face-to-face with the lecturers. Don’t miss this one!
And of course during the evenings, it’s a great chance for you to admire Barcelona!
